Is your law firm technologically savvy enough to handle working from home?

Is your law firm technologically savvy enough to handle working from home?

As the coronavirus starts to seep into every crack of everyday life, everyone is beginning to feel the effects of it. As the legal field starts to feel the hit, most offices are being closed and business operations are being moved to within the home. As this transition occurs, there are many different issues that start to occur as employees start to figure out how to move legal business out of the office.

Is it even possible to fully move business operations to a home-based setting? It depends on the size and type of the law firm – each one is different. The ideal traits for a work-from-home situation would be a small number of employees and a modern office environment. Being technologically savvy is what will save law firms during the pandemic, and the fewer number of employees that have to make the transition, the better.

Now, this isn't saying that large corporations or firms that are a bit behind-the-times can't keep their business operations running smoothly during the COVID-19 outbreak. Any law firm that can successfully transition their current functioning into a home office space should be able to keep business flowing.

Who will survive?

When it comes down to it, the law firms that will be able to successfully make a smooth transition into working from home are the businesses who are up-to-date with their technological processes, specifically having their document management system based in the cloud. According to Above the Law, a large number of those in the legal field are not properly equipped to handle a long-term work-from-home situation.

To be able to make the transition to working from home, law firms need to have their files stored electronically, and their document management solution designed to enable access from the office, your apartment, the coffee shop or from wherever else you may need to access them.

As COVID-19 continues to make its course across the nation, legal businesses are struggling to keep up their same pace at home as in the office. The firms that are going to be the most successful are those that are more technologically savvy and prepared, and this pandemic will reveal who is properly equipped.
